The herd sire provides fifty percent of the genetic profile of the kids produced each kidding season. This strong influence requires greater scrutiny during the selection of herd sire candidates here at SHO ME GOATS. Hype, a popular pedigree or special coloring are not determining factors for members of our buck pen. The "no compromise" qualities we select for are parasite resistance, resilience, good growth, muscle mass, foot quality, as well as maternal and udder qualities of the daughters sired.
We were very fortunate in our selection of Hobo to serve as the first herd sire here at SHO ME GOATS. This LRF PANGO HUA son was selected for his unique, outcross pedigree and pleasing phenotype. Hobo is moderately framed, wide on top, with well sprung ribs and nicely muscled. Hobo has developed into a vigorous, outstanding foundation herd sire that consistently improves udder attachment and teat size, hoof quality, parasite resistance and phenotype. WMB HOBO sires some of the most attractive and productive daughters available in the breed today.
PedigreeMaxi came to us from Arcadia Valley Goats, where he saw four years of heavy use as a herd sire. Maxi was advertised as a "doe maker" sire and he has certainly proven that he is in fact a "doe maker". AVG MAXIMILION is a large framed high performance son of TAY M22 that sires outstanding, deep bodied, large framed offspring that exhibit excellent thickness and muscle mass. His daughters are a very complete and attractive package offering good udders, small teat size, very good parasite resistance, excellent growth with good mothering skills.
PedigreeWe purchased Nickson, as the high selling buck, at the 2012 Roundup Sale held at Perry, Georgia. Bred in the breeding program of Hancock Kiko Farm, Nicksons' sire is SKY W1 08 WARSAW (AKA WARRIOR). Warrior won distinction as the most parasite resistant buck, with a final fecal egg score of 0, at the first Oklahoma Buck Forage Test. At the Oklahoma Buck Test the following year a son of Warrior won the ribbon for the most parasite resistant buck. These back to back wins for parasite resistance, by a sire and his prodigy, has yet to be duplicated. Nickson is being used in our breeding program to add even greater parasite resistance to our herd.
PedigreeJet is a phenomenal young herd sire prospect that was purchased
from Rolling Meadows Farm in Georgia. The pedigree tabulation for
Jet is an impressive group of some of the most outstanding, proven
Kiko genetics available anywhere. There is absolutely no weak link in
his genetics and when combined with his excellent phenotype we are
confident of his future at SHO ME GOATS. We expect the " Best of the
Best" from this young sire.
